Funeral services for Mr. James Irving McKay, Sr. will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 18, 2014 in the Chapel of Rush Funeral Home, Pineville, Louisiana with Reverend Jim Winegeart officiating. Interment will be in Cushman Cemetery, Marksville, Louisiana, under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Pineville, Louisiana.
Mr. McKay, age 92, of Marksville, Louisiana, entered eternal rest on Thursday, January 16, 2014 at the V.A. Medical Center in Pineville, Louisiana.
He was a World War II Army/Air Corp Veteran. He was a longtime employee of Scott Truck & Tractor of Alexandria. He loved the outdoors and began a business of raising fish. He loved traveling, meeting people and stocking ponds.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles "Chris" and Ellie McKay; one brother, Chester L. McKay; best friend, Ernest "Shorty" Rambo.
He is survived by one son, James "Jim" McKay, Jr. of Walker; one daughter, Linda M. Dupuis (Ken) of Carencro; seven grandchildren, Christopher J. Piasecki (Heather) of Lafayette, John G. McKay of Iowa, La., Wendy McKay of Carencro, Michael J. Piasecki (Sharon) of Lafayette, Kasey Markwardt (Greg) of Midlothian, Texas, Jennifer P. Jacobs (Chris) of Houston and Jodie Mayers of Baton Rouge; great grandchildren, Sydney, Alex, Corey, Daniel, Lauren, Gabriella, Shelby, Peyton, Tobi, Taylor, Dusti and Benjamin; sister-in-law, Florence Wales McKay of Georgetown; nieces, Sybil and Ruth.
Friends may call at Rush Funeral Home, Pineville, Louisiana on Friday, January 17, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Saturday, January 18, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. until time of services.
A special thank you and love to Beryline Bordelon, a life partner, best friend and caretaker to dad, he was his happiest when he was with her. Also thanks to the staff of the V.A. Hospital, CLC and PCU for the care given to dad and loving support given to his family.
