Funeral services for Johnny Tagliarino will be at 10:00 am, Friday, May 4, 2012 at the First Baptist Church in Bunkie with Rev. LaMon Brown officiating. Burial with full Military Honors will be in the Pythian Cemetery under the direction of Melancon Funeral Home, Bunkie.
Mr. Tagliarino, age 77, of Bunkie, passed away on Tuesday, at the Bayou Vista Manor Nursing Center. Mr. Tagliarino retired from the US Army after serving two terms in the Korean War and one term in the Vietnam War. He retired, with twenty years of service, as a Chief Warrant Officer in Army Intelligence. He then worked with the LA Dept. of Revenue for twenty-six years, retiring as a Regional Supervisor. He was a long-time member and past president of the Bunkie Rotary Club, long-time Little League Coach, an active member of the First Baptist Church, an Ordained Baptist Minister and a Sunday School teacher at First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of forty-seven years, Ruth Cottano Tagliarino of Bunkie; one son, Phillip Tagliarino of Mansura; one daughter, JoElla Tagliarino Bott and husband, Mike, of Houston, Texas; one sister, Mary Dorothy Coon of Opelousas, one brother, Sam Tagliarino and wife, Melodie, of Magnolia, Texas; seven grandchildren, Allie Tagliarino, Rachel Tagliarino, Isabella Tagliarino, Jessica Bott, Leah Faith Doucet, Glenn Bott and Mika Foreman and eight great grandchildren.
Visitation will be at Melancon Funeral Home, Bunkie on Thursday, May 3, 2012 from 5 pm - 9 pm and at First Baptist Church in Bunkie on Friday, May 4, 2012 from 9 am - 9:45 am.
