Kathleen Crews Starek

Kathleen Crews Starek was born on December 10, 1942 in Alexandria, Louisiana, the daughter of Oscar Appell and Grace (Whatley) Crews. She was baptized in Longview Baptist Church in Deville, Louisiana where she remained a faithful member throughout her life.

Kathy graduated from Buckeye High School before attending Louisiana College where she received a Bachelor degree in Natural Sciences. She continued on to earn a Masters in Mathematics from Louisiana State University at Baton Rouge. After graduating she moved to Houston and began working for the Social Security Administration where she retired from the Alexandria, Office after many years of service.

On March 19th 1966, Kathy and Jerald Eugene Starek were married by Reverend Burt Riddle at Longview Baptist Church. They were blessed with the birth of their son Robert Phillip Starek on July 20, 1973. Kathy and Jerry were married for 47 years. They lived in Deville, Louisiana where Kathy was active in her church where she played the organ. After retiring, Kathy enjoyed gardening, raising cattle, reading, playing the piano, and spending time with her Grandson.

Kathy passed from this life on Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at Seton Medical Center-Williamson, Round Rock, Texas at the age of 70. She was preceded in death by her father, Oscar Appell Crews, her mother, Grace Whatley Crews, and her sister, Beatrice Lynn Crews.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Jerald Eugene Starek of Deville, Louisiana; her son and daughter-in-law, Robert Phillip Starek & Lisa McAlexander Starek of Cedar Park, Texas, her grandson Ryan Alexander Starek, and numerous family members and friends.

The family will greet callers on Monday evening, October 7, 2013 at Hixson Brothers in Pineville, Louisiana between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday, October 8, 2013, at the Longview Baptist Church from 9:00 a.m. until service time.

The funeral will be held at Longview Baptist Church in Deville on Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Robby Poole officiating. Burial will follow at Newell Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Steve Whatley, Gordon Roy Whatley, Chris Miller, James Miller, Carl Rodney Crews, Jr., and Jerry Larry.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Longview Baptist Church in Kathy's name in lieu of flowers.
