Funeral services for Kenneth Edgar Allen will be held at 3 pm, Tuesday September 10, 2013 in the Union Hill Baptist Church of Glenmora with the Revered Troy Doyle and Elder Larry Allen officiating. Committal service will follow in the Union Hill Cemetery of Glenmora under the guidance of White Oaks Funeral Home, Oakdale.
Mr. Allen, 77, of Elizabeth, entered eternal rest on Sunday September 8, 2013 in his residence. He was born on August 9, 1936 in Ogallala, Nebraska to the union of Cecil and Opal Jeffers Allen. He is a veteran of the Korean War. He was employed at the Calcasieu Paper company in Elizabeth from 1958 to 1982. He recently retired from Northrup Gruman at Fort Polk. Mr. Allen was an avid NASCAR and dirt track fan. He loved watching and racing and also helped out other racers with their cars. It thrilled him also to watch his sons and grandsons racing. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Opal Jeffers Allen; and one brother, William Allen.
He leaves behind his loving family to cherish his memory, his loving wife of fifty- four years, Audrey Allen; two son, Kenny Allen (Peggy) of Alexandria and Greg Allen (Sonya) of Boyce; one daughter, Kathleen Thompson (Rodney) of Pitkin; nine grandchildren; three great grandchildren and one on the way; three brothers, Robert Allen and Larry Allen of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Cecil Allen of Arizona; two sisters, Pat Munn and Hannah Mabry of Springs, Texas; and a host of family and friends.
Pallbearers to serve will be Jacob Allen, Aaron Allen, Kasey Thompson, Brent Ray, Chris Ray, and Wade Cloud. Honorary pallbearers to serve will be Cody Allen, Darren Johnson, Jared Perkins, Don Cameron, Charlie Morrow, Donnie Willlis, and Joseph Allen.
Visitation will begin Monday, September 9, 2013 from 5 pm until 10 pm, then Tuesday, September 10, 2013 from 8 am until service time in the church.
