Services for Lenore Averill "Lee" Brewer will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 11, 2014, in the First United Methodist Church of Alexandria with the Rev. Donnie Wilkinson officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to John Kramer & Son.
Lenore Averill "Lee" Brewer, 61, died July 8, 2014, in her residence following more than six years of treatment for stage 3 peritoneal ovarian cancer.
Lee loved Alexandria, but as a 5th generation Texan, home was always Victoria, Houston, and Lake LBJ, Texas where she held a lifetime of cherished memories and friends. She was a graduate of St. Mary's Hall in San Antonio and attended the University of Texas in Austin where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. After college, she moved to Houston to work. She was a member of the Houston Junior League, committeeman with the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. Lee was also active in the Harris County Heritage Society where her family home is currently a house museum, a licensed travel agent and a copy editor. She was a member and Sunday school teacher at St. Luke's United Methodist Church.
Marriage to David brought Lee to Alexandria in January, 1997. Here, she devoted her time to her family, her church and her yard.
Mrs. Brewer is survived by her husband, David Brewer; daughters, Averill and Mackey; her brother, Mac; sister, Judy; the Brewer family; the Beach Babes and her beloved cats and dogs.
Friends are invited to visit with the family at their home, 1909 Albert Street, Alexandria on Thursday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Friday at the First United Methodist Church, 2727 Jackson Street from 10:00 a.m. until time of services.
