Funeral services for Mr. Nolan Joseph Bordelon will be held in the Chapel of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home in Marksville on Sunday, July 21, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. with Father Shoury officiating. Interment will be in Cushman Cemetery in Marksville. Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Marksville.
Mr. Bordelon, age 91, of Marksville, passed away at Avoyelles Hospital in Marksville on Thursday, July 18, 2013. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wickliffe and Cora Mayeux Bordelon and wife, Sylvia G. Bordelon.
He was a heavy machine operator and farmer for many years, a Veteran of WWII as he served his country in the US Army Air Corps in Northern France and Rhineland and was a member of the 384th Heavy Bombardment Group. He flew 38 missions and achieved the rank of Tech Sergeant.
Survivors include four sons, Donald Bordelon and wife Wanda of Marksville, David W. Bordelon and wife Judie of Marksville, Sammy Bordelon of Lafayette, Michael Chris Bordelon and wife Dianne of Effie, two daughters, Roxie Bordelon McGarrity and husband Thomas of Rochester, NY, Sonya Bordelon Wood of Pineville, one brother, Jimmie W. Bordelon of Marksville, 12 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held in the Chapel of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home on Saturday, July 20, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. and will resume on Sunday, July 21, 2013 from 8:00 a.m. until service time.
