Robert E. Smith

A service to celebrate the life of Robert E. Smith will be held 10 a.m., Friday, July 6, 2012, in the chapel of John Kramer & Son with Rev. Dan O'Connor and Rev. Charles Ray officiating. Interment will be held at St. Peter's Cemetery, Pine Prairie, LA, under the direction of John Kramer & Son.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. - 8 p.m., Thursday, July 5, 2012, at John Kramer & Son. A Christian wake service will be held at 6 p.m., Thursday, July 5, 2012, in the chapel of John Kramer & Son.

Robert E. Smith ("The Bull"), a resident of Pineville, LA, passed away July 2, 2012, at the age of 80. He was born March 5, 1932 in Hanover, PA to Mary Kemper and Gregory Eugene Smith. He had two sisters, Joyce Bordin and Ruth Hokinssmith. Robert was honorably discharged from the United States Air Force at the rank of staff sergeant in 1971 after proudly serving twenty years of service to his country. He continued working for England Air Base as a firefighter until he retired in 1992. He was passionate about fishing, digging worms, dominoes, football, watching his children play ball, coaching baseball and softball, and umpiring.

On April 16, 1955, he married the love of his life, Dolores Janet Ardoin Smith. Their 57 year marriage and relationship was admired by all and truly was a once in a lifetime love. Robert was a loving and devoted husband, dedicated father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a caring friend to all. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Robert was preceded in death by his daughter, Karen Smith, and his sister, Ruth Hokinssmith.

Robert will be remembered by his wife, Dolores Janet Ardoin Smith, his children, Katherine Smith, Gregory Paul Smith and wife Shannon Raines, Michael Smith, Sandra Jane Hollis, Deborah A. Smith, David E. Smith and wife Kelly Pearson, and Margaret E. Smith; his grandchildren, Brandi Wells, Rebecca Gyer, Jennifer Corrick, Jamie Wallace, Jason Sams, Donovan Smith, Courtney Godwin, Trinity Hollis, Devon Colson, Taylor Smith, Dustin Bailey, Dana Smith, C.j. Green, and Dalton Michiels; and twelve great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be David Smith, Gregory Smith, Jason Sams, Jesse Taylor, Franklin Deville, Travis Trantham, Melvin Torres, and Bradley Thompson. Honorary pallbearers are C.J. Green, Mathew Taylor, and Dalton Michiels.
