Brad was lifelong resident of Jena, LA. He was born on February 2, 1957 to the union of Jeddie Ray Hodges, Sr. and Maxine Bradford Hodges.
Mr. Hodges graduated from Jena High School in 1975. He was Senior Class president and an all-state linebacker at JHS. He attended LSU and then worked in the maintenance department for the LaSalle Parish School Board until his retirement in 2008. At the time of his death he ran a successful refrigeration and air condition repair business in Jena.
Brad was an avid outdoorsman who loved spending his free time roaming the woods of LaSalle and Catahoula parish. He was an expert on local genealogy and Native American culture and artifacts. He lived his life with a mischievous twinkle in his eye and wry grin on his face. His personality and heart were bigger than life. He never met a stranger, always gave more than he took, and never passed up the chance to make you laugh with an old story or joke. He will be remembered as a staunchly loyal friend, a loving husband, dedicated son and a caring father. Brad was a passionate defender of his family and friends, the ideals he believed were right and those less fortunate.
He served his God as a Christian and member of Pritchard Baptist Church in the Old River Community. Most Sunday mornings he could be found delivering homemade sausage biscuits to the LaSalle nursing home residents and visiting with them to lift their spirits.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Rema Nadine Robertson Hodges; father, Jeddie Ray Hodges, Sr.; paternal grandparents, William Thomas Hodges, Sr. and Arta Nethery Hodges; maternal grandparents, James Clyde Bradford and Pergie Brooks Bradford.
He is survived by his sons; William Blaine Hodges of Mansfield, LA, and Fulton Pierce Hodges of Jena; mother, Maxine Bradford Hodges of Jena: brothers, Jeddie Ray Hodges, Jr. of Jena and Dr. Tony Neil Hodges of Manhattan Beach, CA.
Pallbearers will be Dean Cockerham, Carlos Crooks, Scott Maxwell, Dan Evans, Steve Norris, Troy Matthews, Sam Hodges and Paul Smith. Honorary Pallbearers will include James Doughty, Dan Cornett, Petey Randall, David Johnson, Dr. John Gibson, Al Randall, Shep Allien, Tommy Hodges, Jimmy Hodges and the Deacons of Pritchard Baptist Church.
