Anne Wemmer Collins Anne Wemmer Collins of Eureka passed away on Tuesday, Oct 29th at the age of 82. Loving mother and grandmother, animal lover. May the light perpetual shine upon her. Anne Laughlin Wemmer was born in Lima Ohio on September 30, 1931, the only child of Henry R. Wemmer and Martha Laughlin Wemmer. Her father died of a burst appendix when Anne was 2 years old and her mother never remarried. She was raised by her mother and an extended family in Lima Ohio. She attended Wheaton College in Norton Massachusetts and graduated from Beloit College in Wisconsin. She married Edward J. Collins on November 20, 1956. They had three children, Charles (1959), Roberta "Gigi" (1960) and James (1965). They raised a family in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. Anne was divorced in 1977 and did not remarry. She lived in Birmingham Michigan until 2001 when she moved to Humboldt County in Northern California to be near her daughter Gigi. Anne was an animal lover, supporting a family of dogs and animal welfare organizations. For most of her adult life she was a humanist and Unitarian Universalist. She was active in building the Emerson Unitarian Universalist Church in Troy Michigan and a member of the Humboldt UU Fellowship near Eureka, CA. She is survived by her son Charles Collins of Boston, MA and daughter Gigi Collins of Arcata, CA. There was a private family memorial service.
