Avelle Calvin Calvert Obituary
Avelle (Cal) Calvin Calvert 7-12-33 to 7-3-14 Avelle passed away on 7-3-14 with loved ones by his side. Avelle was preceded in death by both of his parents George and Aglia Calvert and 4 sisters and 6 brothers, 2 wives and 2 of his children. Avelle was born in Kansas to George and Aglia Calvert. In 1935 when he was 1½they moved to Illinois. They moved to California in 1942. Avelle joined the Air Force in 1953 and became an aircraft mechanic and was discharged in 1957. He then worked in a plywood mill for 1 year. Then he went to work for himself with A&P Truck Service, he did this for 33 years and the towing for 43 years. Avelle took great pride in being a volunteer fireman for the Orick Fire Department he did this for 20 years. Avelle (Cal) loved to terrorize everyone with his humor. Many people in Humboldt county have fond memories of the man who gave them their first job. A Cardinals fan since a young boy, in his lifetime he has been in every Cardinals stadium that was built starting with "Sportsman's Park" and 2 yrs ago the "Bush Stadium 3!" Avelle is survived by 5 children and 12 grand kids and 10 great grand kids and many nieces, nephews, cousins and all of his good friends through out the county.
