Ben E. Moore Obituary
Ben E. Moore passed away early morning Sunday July 27, 2014 at home in Holmes Flat, Redcrest CA. at 81 years of age. He fought a brave battle against the effects of years of smoking. In the end his heart couldn't take it anymore. Ben was born April 14, 1933 in Redden, OK one of ten children to Edgar Otis Moore and Sarah Frances Moore. He is survived by his wife Cathy Moore; his sons Michael (Kalina) Moore, Wesley (Leslie) Moore, Cameron Moore, and Jonathan (Kelly) Moore; and former daughter-in-laws Nina Moore and Iris Carpenter Moore who are still loved as the mothers of three of his granddaughters. Ben was blessed with nine grandchildren. For eleven years Ben and Cathy had their nieces Ashley Still and Cheyenne Jacaway as part of their family. The time went so fast, we hope they know we loved them. He is also survived by his sisters Ina Jo (Bill) Kellogg, Dorthy (Gale) Ness, and Fay Condren; brothers Douglas (Debbie) Moore, Donald (Carol) Moore, Jim (Debbie) Moore, David Moore; sister-in-law Marie Moore; numerous nephews, nieces and friends who made his life rich and eventful. He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Merrilee Moore, sister Grace Holt, brother Edgar Otis Moore Jr., and nephews Edgar Kellogg and Gary Moore. Ben served in the army briefly during the Korean War. He spent many years climbing in and out of canyons with his hounds. Sheetrocking, construction and timberfalling were some of his means of support. His last hobbies were making walking sticks and pipes. Visitors could usually find him working on them. For as long as he could, he loved growing his vegetables and watching Cathy work in the garden. The family would like to express sincerest thanks during these difficult times to all thoses who visited Ben in the hospital, rehab, and at home. It meant a lot to us. Special thanks to Dr. Palmer and his staff at the office; all the nurses from Home Health: Patty Hess, Arleen Perry and the others. To the Rehabilitation Center close to St Joseph Hospital: thanks for doing all you did for Ben. To the staff at Sea View: your help was so appreciated. Lastly, thanks to all the nursing staff and doctors who tended to our loved one in St. Joseph and Redwood Memorial Hospitals. A gathering in remembrance of Ben will be held Saturday September 13th from 1 to 5 pm at C and I Roping Arena, 800 Holmes Flat Road, Redcrest. Bring your favorite side dish and stories to share.
