Cynthia Dee "CynDee" Almon was born September 27, 1955 in Elm Grove, WI to Beth and John Almon. She was the second of three children. CynDee graduated from the University of Wisconsin at Madison with a major in Home Economics and was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority. She met Al Maurer in Baraboo, WI while attending the wedding of each other's college roommates and they married in 1983 in Milwaukee, WI. CynDee worked in the travel industry including positions at NorthWest Airlines, Carlson Travel and co-owned an independent travel agency called Destinations Unlimited in Milwaukee. This allowed CynDee and Al to travel the world including notable trips to Ireland and the Caribbean. CynDee gave the gift of travel to her parents and sister including memorable vacations in Hawaii and Europe. CynDee and Al raised two sons, Blake and Brett, in Cleveland, OH. She was active in PTA and she supported many youth sports activities. The family moved to the West Coast 2002 to be closer to her mother, brother and sister. They initially lived in Oregon before moving to Mckinleyville, CA where the boys attended high school. CynDee died in her sleep on the morning of Thursday April 25, 2013 in Walnut Creek, CA. She is survived by her husband Al Maurer, mother Beth Lusch, brother Lance Almon, sister Diane West, sons Blake Maurer and Brett Maurer, and her niece Kari West. She will be loved and missed by all. The Celebration of CynDee's Life will be held Wednesday May 1, 2pm at the Church on The Rock 2333 Mckinleyville Ave, Mckinleyville.
