Gilbert E. Dias, Sr. Gilbert "Gilly" E. Dias, Sr. passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 29. Gilly lived a long life experiencing life to its fullest. He joined the Army in December 1942 until October 1945. While in the Army, Gilly was a Truck Driver Light 345, Combat Infantryman, and held the rank of Private First Class. He served both domestic and in foreign campaigns (Romearno, Rhineland, Central Europe, and South France). He earned the Good Conduct Medal, European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, and one other medal. After serving our country, Gilly worked for many years as a dairy farmhand. Gilly is preceded in death by wife Dorothy, daughter Laura, and son Eugene. He is survived by his son Gilbert, Junior; grandsons Walter Robledo (daughters Morgan, Laura, and Trinity); Bob Robledo (wife Diana, son Derek, daughter Emily), and Lewis Robledo (daughter Lillian and son Evan); and numerous extended family members and friends. Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 6 @ 11 a.m. at Humboldt Cremation Funeral Services "Citizens Mortuary" in Ferndale, CA. Graveside services will follow at 1 p.m. at Ferndale Cemetery.
