James Ray Klaverweiden James Ray Klaverweiden passed into Heaven on March 9th 2014. He was born Dec. 24th 1925 to John and Mabel Klaverweiden of Guyman, Oklahoma. He then moved to a ranch in Dalhart, Texas. After the death of his father, the family moved to Gridley, CA where he finished elementary and high school, graduating from Gridley high in 1946. He enlisted in the Navy in 1943 discharging in 1945. He went back in 1946 to make a career of it. In 1955 he married Paula Strzelezzk. Jan. 22, 1958 James Klaverweiden II was born their only bundle of joy. In 1966 Paula divorced James. He then brought his son to Fortuna, CA where he was raised by his grandmother Mabel and Aunt Janie. James was discharged in 1973 from the Fleet reserve. He fought in World War II, Korea and the Vietnam war. He was aboard the USS Hull 808, USS Dennis J. Buckley, and USS Lamar. After discharging he helped his mom Mabel in her care homes in Ferndale and Fortuna. For a short time he delivered milk for McCloud Dairy in Rohnerville. His pure joy was working in the garden and grafting a fruit tree, the love of his family and friends. James never met a stranger, he loved everyone because he had the love of Jesus in his heart, mind and soul. He was truly a friend to everyone he met. He loved to help the elderly with their yards. He took great pleasure in just helping people, flat tire, ride down the road or whatever their need. He is survived by his son James and (Kris) Klaverweiden of Redway, CA, brother Robert Klaverweiden of Sonora, CA, sister Janie Ford of Eureka, CA, sister in law Tinka Klaverweiden of Gridley, CA, nephew Rick of Sonora, CA, nieces Peggy of Cool, CA, Teralee of Willow Creek, CA, other great nieces, great nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by John and Mabel Klaverweiden, brother Jack, nephews John and David. Services will be held at Rohnerville Assembly of God, 1530 Rohnerville Road Fortuna, CA on Saturday May 3rd at 2:00 pm with Pastor Mike Gibbs and David Sanchez. Bring a dish to share.
