Richard Warren Wiley Obituary
Richard Warren Wiley Richard Warren Wiley of Crescent City passed away from cancer on December 21, 2013 at the age of 58. Rick was born December 4, 1955 and raised in the Southern CA communities of Manhattan Beach and Miraleste (now Rancho Palos Verdes) where he graduated from Rancho Del Mar High School. He moved to Phillipsville, CA in 1973 to help his family establish Wiley's Redwood Burl Factory on the Avenue of the Giants. Rick loved to cook and worked at various restaurants in Humboldt County, including Ferndale and on the Hoopa Reservation. In1996, Rick moved to CrescentCity where he became an avid fisherman and enjoyed crabbing. There he became a member of Loyal Order of Moose where he was very active for some years and later joined the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks where he spent much of his time volunteering at the bar and in the kitchen. Rick was awarded Elk of the Year for 2010-2011 and was named a Paul Harris Fellow by The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International. Rick is survived by his brother Robert Wiley and sisters Jacque Lynn, Jill Singletary and Sheri Hoeger along with three nieces and nine nephews and their children. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clinton Ardine and Dorothy Elizabeth Wiley, and his brother Rocky Wiley.
