BARRE - The graveside service for Christopher Lee Dexter, 30, of Merchant Street, was held on Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at 1 p.m. in the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Randolph Center. He died Tuesday, June 25, 2013.

The Rev. Candace Ricker, pastor of the New Hope United Methodist Church in Waits River, led the service.

Guitarist and brother Eric Dexter sang "Nutshell." Reflections were offered by Christopher's companion, Heather St. Amour, and longtime friend John Stacey. The Rev. Ricker read the "Airborne Creed" and the poem "A Fallen Limb." She also read reflections written by Eric Dexter and Nicole Menduni and friend Tina Little, who wrote about "My Friend."

Military honors were accorded the deceased by the Vermont Army National Guard military funeral honors team. Members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Brown-Johnson Post 792 of Montpelier provided the color guard, and members of the American Legion Post 9 of Randolph provided the firing party. Taps was played, and the flag was folded and presented to Christopher's father, Luther Dexter.

The bearers were father Luther Dexter; brothers Eric Dexter and Dustin Dexter; stepfather Steven Butler; cousin Nick Peake; and friend John Stacey.

Following the service, family and friends gathered at the American Legion Post 10 in Barre for a time of sharing and refreshments.
