BARRE TOWN - The life celebration and Libra service for John E. "Jack" Bernasconi, of Wildersburg Common, was held Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, at 11 a.m. in St. Monica Catholic Church. He died with his family at his bedside at Central Vermont Medical Center in Berlin on Feb. 3, 2013.

Monsignor (Retired) Reid C. Mayo, former pastor of St. Monica Catholic Church, was the celebrant. Organist Richard Shadroui accompanied singer Phyllis Andrews and the congregation in the hymns, "Amazing Grace," "Prayer of St. Francis" and "The Battle Hymn of the Republic."

Words of remembrance were offered by his daughter, Jayne Bernasconi, and granddaughter, Stacey Shapiro. Crucifer and longtime friend Lawrence Reilly read from the Old Testament, and caregiver Dean Monteith proclaimed the New Testament reading.

Interment was made in the Hope Cemetery, where the folded American flag was presented to his son, Jay Bernasconi, by Bruce Judd, also a longtime friend.

Fellowship and luncheon followed at the Hilltop Restaurant in Barre Town.

The Hooker and Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy St., Barre, was in charge of the arrangements.
