BARRE - A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated for Maurice A. LaPerle of Daniel Drive on Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Monica Catholic Church in Barre. He passed away on April 5, 2013, at Central Vermont Medical Center in Berlin.

The Rev. Leopold J. Bilodeau, pastor of the church, was the celebrant.

Crucifer Henry Bilodeau was altar server.

Organist and soloist Rosemary Badeau accompanied singers Romeo Bilodeau and Ronald Routhier in the hymns, "Ye Sons and Daughters," "I Know That My Redeemer Lives," "Your Words, Lord, Are Spirit and Life," "How Great Thou Art," "Panis Angelicus," "Song of Farewell" and "Let There Be Peace On Earth." Soloist Rosemary Badeau sang "Ave Maria."

Words of remembrance were offered by Elizabeth LaPerle, daughter-in-law.

Scripture readings from the Old Testament were read by Sheila LaPerle, sister-in-law, and Karen Ormsbee, a family friend, read Scriptures from the New Testament.

Offertory gifts were presented at the altar by his grandchildren, Amanda Brown, Justin LaPerle and Travis LaPerle.

Assisting as Eucharistic minister was Cecile Carbonneau, a longtime family friend.

Pallbearers were Travis LaPerle, Justin LaPerle, Todd Audet, Paul Mascitti, Norman Couture and Marcel "Marcy" LaPerle.

Honorary bearers were Marcel "Chummy" LaPerle, Richard "Dick" Blake, Roger Couture, David Couture, Andy LaPerle and Tim Lawson.

A prayer service was held Tuesday morning at the Pruneau-Polli Funeral Home in Barre and was led by Father Bilodeau.

Burial followed the Mass in the Plain-Mont Cemetery in East Montpelier, where Father Bilodeau offered committal prayers.

Following the burial, family and friends gathered at the Canadian Club in Barre for a time of fellowship and dinner.

Arrangements were in the care of the Pruneau-Polli Funeral Home, 58 Summer St., Barre.
