Carson J. Bright, 91, of Longmont, Colorado and formerly of Loveland, Colorado, died on April 1, 2013 at his home in Longmont. He was born on July 16, 1921 in Dowagiac, Michigan to Leonard J. and Lila Ella (Trowbridge) Bright. He graduated high school in Dowagiac, Michigan and attended college in South Bend, Indiana. Carson served in the US Air Force during WWII. He worked as an engineering checker for International Harvester and as a draftsman for Studebaker, prior to that. Carson retired in 1985. Carson was a Mason for 70 years, a Shriner of the Scottish Rite for 60 years, a Shriner for 50 years, and Knights Templar for 30 years. He was a member of the El Jebel Shrine Club of Loveland and Mizpah of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, and Masonic Lodge Peninsula #10 AF&AM in Dowagiak, Michigan. He played tuba in the Shrine Band for 65 years, the Legion Band in Ft. Wayne, Indiana for 20 years and the Loveland Concert Band for 15 years. He also enjoyed making stained glass. Carson married Dorothy Malama on November 14, 2009 in Johnstown, Colorado. He previously married Grace E. Baysinger, who preceded him in death on April 3, 2006. Carson had lived in Loveland since 1996 prior to moving to Longmont in 2010. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Bright of Longmont, daughters, Dian Sue Snavely of Plains City, Ohio, Joy E. Bright of Covina, California, Barbara Lloyd and husband Alan of Bellvue, Colorado, five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He is preceded in death by his sister, Virginia. Memorial services will take place at 2:00 PM, Saturday, April 6, 2013 at Kibbey Fishburn Funeral Home in Loveland. Cremation has been completed. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital in care of Kibbey Fishburn Funeral Home.
