Elma Gwin Obituary
Elma V. Gwin, "Grandma to Everyone", 87, of Longmont, Colorado, passed away July 23, 2014. Elma was born March 2, 1927 to George and Agatha (Yekel) Hoff in Bayard, Nebraska. After her father died in an electrical accident, Elma and her 2 siblings were raised by their grandparents until their mom married Ewald C. Bock and moved the family to Longmont in 1935. Elma married Roy C. Gwin on August 10, 1945 in Loveland, Colorado. She was co-owner of Branch Electric. Elma was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, a Life Member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Women of the Moose, College of Regents, VFW Auxiliary and Longmont Elks Lodge #1055. Elma was an avid doll collector and enjoyed puzzles, poetry, member of Quester's, crafts and painting. Elma is preceded in death by her husband Roy C. Gwin, father George Hoff, her mother and step-father Agatha and Ewald Bock, her brother Edward "Eddie" Bock and sister Eldora Reed. Elma is survived by her sons Mike Gwin (Peg) of Loveland and Scott Gwin of Longmont, daughter Diana Gwin of Longmont, brother David Bock (Berta), sister Janet Pearson, grandchildren Shawn Simmons (Jodi), Misty Gwin Retchless (Jason), Shannon Maestas, Kelly Gwin Solis (Al), Ryan Gwin and Heather Gwin Marrufo (Junior), great-grandchildren Trevor and Sherena Simmons, Jasmine and Isiah Solis, Payton Maestas, Baisa, Alissa and Isabella Marrufo, Devin Cherry, Natalie Jacob, Jackson and Ryker Retchless. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at First Evangelical Lutheran Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Autism Association in care of Ahlberg Funeral Chapel. Cremation entrusted to Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory.
