Janice Bicknell Obituary
Janice Anne Bicknell, died April 25, 2014 at North Shore Commons, Loveland, following an illness. She was 70. Jan was born on May 11, 1943 in St. Joseph, Michigan to Alex Pesko and Anna Batke. She graduated from St. Joe High School in 1961. She attended Lake Michigan College and then graduated from Michigan State University in December 1965, with honors in business and Distributive Teacher Education. She was also affiliated with Pi Omega Pi while at MSU. Her first teaching position followed at Benton Harbor High School. In 1959, she met her lifelong best friend, Richard and on August 28, 1965 they were married in Trinity Lutheran Church, in St. Joseph. In November of 1967, her son Scott was born in St. Joseph. In 1971, they moved to Colorado where Dick pursued his career with Prudential and in October of that year, her daughter Traci was born in Boulder. Jan loved teaching and working with her students. When she moved to Colorado her pursuits changed to raising her children, running a household and being the business manager for Dick's insurance agency. She dedicated her life to raising her children and spending time attending sporting events and concerts. Her support at these events helped to shape her children's lives as they grew up, left home, got married and raised children of their own. Jan loved spending time in the mountains, taking pictures, fishing and golfing. On many occasions it has been said how she continued to "out fish" her husband. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren celebrating their activities and accomplishments. Jan was a loving wife, mom and Grandma who was gracious and caring to those around her. Surviving are her mother of St. Joseph, Michigan; son Scott (Lesli) Bicknell of Greeley; daughter Traci (Kevin) Taylor of Westminster; sisters Linda (Rich) VanHoedt of St. Joseph and Karen Pesko; and seven grandchildren; Sara Domer, C.J., Tyler and Tony Taylor, and Garrett and Gavin Bicknell. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 29 at Messiah Lutheran Church. Contributions may be made to Messiah Lutheran Church, 1335 Francis St., Longmont, CO 80501.
