Judith Weinacht Obituary
Judith Ann Weinacht, 76, of Lakewood, formerly of Longmont, died March 16, 2014. She was born September 25, 1937 in Great Bend, Kansas to George and Ruth (Huddleston) Murdy. She was raised in Hoisington, Kansas and graduated from Hoisington High School where she was active as a cheerleader, band, drum majorette and had 72 students in dance and baton while in high school. Many of her cherished moments were with the Order of Rainbow for Girls and she served as Grand Representative to California, Grand Drill Leader and Grand Charity for the State of Kansas. Judy graduated from Colorado Women's College in Denver, where she was elected the first President of the newly constructed Curtis Hall. She married Charles "Chuck" Burgat August 4, 1957 in Hoisington, Kansas. To this union six children were born. They lived in Manhattan and Lawrence, Kansas as well as Houston, Texas. Judy worked as a secretary for the ASC office in Manhattan and as a bookkeeper for Texas Red Ball Freight and the University of Houston. The family moved to Longmont, CO in July 1964 and Judy was President of the Longmont Newcomer's Club, active in Jaycee Jets, Beta Sigma Phi, Soroptomists and after retirement as a volunteer at Longmont United Hospital. She and Charles were divorced in October 1970. She worked as a Contract Administrator in Space Systems for Ball Brothers before obtaining a real estate license in 1972. After receiving her license, she associated with The Fort St. Vrain Agency and later, with four partners bought the company which was then incorporated as The Fort, Inc. She later worked as Sales Manager for Title Realty, Inc. and retired as Sales Manager in January 2000 at Coldwell Banker Preferred Realty. Judy served as President of the Longmont Association of Realtors, received the Realtor of the Year in 1981 and the Wade Gaddis Distinguished Service Award in 1991. She taught real estate classes for CU, American Real Estate College and Northern Colorado College of Real Estate for 22 years, continuing after her retirement. She married Billy D. Weinacht May 18, 1973 and they had 30 wonderful years together before he passed away May 21, 2003, 3 days after their 30th anniversary. With Bill's assistance, their greatest joy was the successes of their children and grandchildren. They both loved all music, sports and were always involved in their family's activities as coach and cheerleader. Judy is survived by her sons, Brad (Jamie) Burgat, Fort Collins; David (Linda) Burgat, Oklahoma City; daughters Lianne Bishop (Allen Opie), Oklahoma City; Lori (George) Bickely, Longmont; Karin (Duane) Akerfelds, Littleton; Kristi O'Keefe (Al Reinig) Littleton and four stepsons: Gary (Margaret) Weinacht, Dunoon, Scotland; William and Jeffrey Weinacht, Denver and Randy (Dawn) Weinacht, Raleigh, NC. Also surviving are grandchildren Cody and Casey (Sara) Burgat, Emily and Monica Burgat, Ben and Katie Bishop, Nick Dill, Halley Bickley, Rylie and McKenna O'Keefe, Carter and Cade Akerfelds and step grandchildren Jessica Weinacht, Chris and D.J. Opie and Megan Weinacht and 2 great grandchildren. She is further survived by a brother-in-law, Dave Davis of Hutchinson, KS, sister-in-law Naomi Weinacht of Napa, ID and brother-in-law Larry Mardock of Wichita, KS. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive her. Her husband Bill, her parents and only sister, Jane Davis preceded her in death. Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, April 11, 2014 at the Longmont Elks Lodge. Memorial contributions are requested to Hope Cancer Care Center or Barton County Jr. College in Great Bend, KS for George and Ruth Murdy Scholarship Memorial.
