Richard P. 'Bud' Machtolf died December 22, 2013 at Longmont United Hospital. He was 91 years old.
He was born August 7, 1922 in Glendale, California to Paul Richard and Mary (Sanders) Machtolf. He graduated from Glendale High School.
Bud enlisted in the United States Army on Oct. 21, 1942 and was assigned to the Army Air Corps, 1391st Military Police Company. He saw duty in the Asiatic Pacific Theater and was honorably discharged March 11, 1946.
On April 29, 1943 he married Joan Kinney in La Crescenta, CA.
Bud spent his entire career as an electrician, working in construction. He started with his father at Machtolf-Doll Electric and finished his career as a union electrician.
He moved to Longmont in 1991.
Bud was a member of Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Mead, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the National Rifle Association.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking. He used his woodworking craft to make many things for his family.
He was preceded in death by wife Joan on Jan. 21, 1997, son Rick Machtolf, sister Rae Goldstein and two brothers Tom and Bobby Machtolf.
Bud is survived by two sons Larry Machtolf (Cathy) of La Crescenta, CA and Keith Machtolf (Lynn) of Camarillo, CA, daughter-in-law Kay Machtolf of Lafayette, CO, sister Dot Paloa of Santa Ynez, CA, six grandchildren Tammy, Jeff, Heather, Jesse, Jennifer and Matthew, nine great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00am Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014 at Guardian Angel Catholic Church, Mead, CO. Interment at Foothills Gardens of Memory. Visit www.ahlbergfuneralchapel.com to share condolences.
