Ronald F. "Fred" Zaruba died August 16, 2013 at his home in Fort Lupton. He was 58 years old. He was born January 21, 1955 in Longmont, CO to Donald and Lorene (Jordan) Zaruba. Ron grew up in Erie, CO and graduated from Erie High School. Ron married Shelly Cushman on July 31, 1976, they had three daughters, and later divorced. On March 10, 2002 he married Ruby Allen Stevens. He worked for Erie Precast Concrete, a family business started by his father, and later managed and operated by Ron and his brother Donald. In recent years he worked for LaMar Construction. Ron was a member of the Mountain View Volunteer Fire Department for over 20 years. He had also served as Erie's Fire Chief. He was a horseman, cowboy and an avid hunter and fisherman. Ron enjoyed taking his daughters to many horse shows and coaching their softball teams. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Donald on Aug. 3, 2000 and son-in-law Humberto Vargas. Ron is survived by his wife Ruby of Fort Lupton, three daughters Amy Burke (husband Bret) of Frederick, Jamie Zaruba (husband Terry Ruddick) of Frederick and Annie Zaruba of Englewood, step-daughter Timmie Goucher (husband Myles Mangrum), step-son Paul Goucher (wife Rebecca), grandchildren Dylan, Tanner, Marie, Julia, Terry, Taylenn and Paige, his sister Debbie Langerak (husband Steve) and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 7-9pm Wednesday, Aug, 21 at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, with family present to greet friends. Funeral service will be 11:00am Thursday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.
