PAGE, Robert Henry May 13, 1922 - April 11, 2014 It is with heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Bob Page in VGH, his daughter at his side. Predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Marjorie (2008); son-in-law, Brian Prior (2012) and sister, June Trent (2013). Sadly missed by daughter, Sharon Prior; granddaughters, Vicki (Scott) Rowan and Trina Prior. Born in Winnipeg, MB. He headed to Victoria at age 16 to join the Navy but found he was too young. He worked on the cruise ship, Empress of Russia, till joining the navy. He served on mine sweepers in WWII. In 1943 he married his childhood sweetheart, Marge, in Victoria. Bob started working at Eatons in 1950, retiring after 37 years. He and Wally Fletcher were the Display Dept. responsible for the magical mechanical window, Toyland and all Christmas Decorations for many years. They also did their clown act at Eatons Staff Picnics and Kids Christmas parties. Dad loved all things Italian, especially the cars. He and three friends started Victoria Motor Sports Club (VMSC) in the 50's with early meetings at our kitchen table, organizing car runs, rallies & gymkhanas. In later years they enjoyed many cruises and he and mom made several trips to Italy. They were long time members of Capital City Yacht Club, making many wonderful friends. Dad was a very happy man with a big smile and infectious laugh. When he laughed everyone laughed. Dad was so proud of his granddaughters, often saying "I'm so proud of those girls I could bust my buttons!" Dad lived at Shannon Oaks for his last 6 months making many new friends. Sincere thanks to the staff at Shannon Oaks and the nurses and staff at Royal Jubilee and VGH for their excellent care and compassion. No service by request. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the charity of your choice would be appreciated. Dad, Your "Baby Girl" misses you terribly and knows you're enjoying your exotic car shows again.
