Imogene H. Page
The Guest Book is expired.
Imogene Hamilton Page, born Dec. 18, 1925, in Chase, Ala., departed this life on Nov. 30, 2013, at her home in Rogersville. She was a faithful member of Oliver Church of Christ.
After graduating from Lauderdale County High, she married her high school sweetheart, Billy R. Page, on May 10, 1946. Their first four years of married life were spent in school at Auburn where Bill graduated. They returned to Rogersville to spend the remainder of their lives together. At her gracious family home near Highway 72, Imogene hosted weddings, receptions, and elegant lawn parties. Everyone who knew the Pages were honored to be invited to their home where hospitality reigned and frequently the centerpiece was a delicious caramel cake. The lawn was graced with unique day lilies carefully cultivated by Bill and Imogene after Bill retired from NASA. Some still remain in her garden as reminders of the beauty that was there for all to enjoy. Imogene could have placed a "Bed and Breakfast" sign on the highway to advertise her open-hearted and generous nature. All who knew Imogene loved her and admired her spirit.
Imogene was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Billy R. Page; her parents, James and Mae Hammond Hamilton; and brothers, Henry Edward Hamilton, William Morris Hamilton, and James Harold Hamilton.
She is survived by three sons, David Page (Sofia), of Bradenton, Fla., Jerry Page (Margaret), of Rogersville, Ala., and Gary Page, of Athens, Ala.; her grandchildren, Matt, Kelsey, Christa, Andy, Craig, and Garrett; two great-grandchildren, Carson and Hallie; one sister, Julia H Bedingfield (Bobby), Killen, Ala.; and two sisters-in-law, Lella Mae Hamilton and Ann Hamilton, both of Rogersville; along with several nieces and nephews.
Expressions of heartfelt thanks goes to her caregivers Dianne Smith, Carol Bedingfield, JoAnn Springer, Hazel Wilbanks, and Helen Reeves, who brought much comfort in her final years. There are also friends without number whose lives have been enriched by her and who will treasure her memory.
Visitation will be today, 6-8 p.m., at Rogersville Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. with viewing from noon to 1 at Oliver Church of Christ, with Ronnie Owens and David O'Connell officiating. Burial will follow in Miller Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Matt, Craig, Garrett and Andy Page, Chipper Ezell and Jim Skipworth. Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Bedingfield Jr., Lee Bedingfield, Brock, Whitney and Ryan Owens and Clay Parker.
Memorials may be made to Rogersville Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 540, Rogersville, AL 35652.
