Pauline P. Sands

Pauline P. Sands, 89, of Tunkhannock, died October 18, 2012, at Geisinger CMC, Scranton.

She was born on Russell Hill, a daughter of the late Edward and Rachel Bush Prevost, and was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford, in 2007. Together they operated a registered Holstein dairy farm in Benson Hollow. She was trained by Penn State University as a milk tester in her young-adult years. She was a member of the Eatonville United Methodist Church. She attended the Dimock School, graduated from Tunkhannock High School and Keystone Junior College, where she was a blue ribbon runner on the track team. She was equally enthusiastic about and played many other sports. She was on the State Women's Committee, a member of the Pa. Farmers Association with her husband and also a member of the Pa. Holstein Association with him. She enjoyed playing golf, participating in the Senior Olympics in her beginning years of the sport and enjoyed watching most televised sports. She and Clifford were active with the Wyoming County Fair and enjoyed riding their gator around the fairgrounds and their farm, giving friends rides around the Hollow.

She was preceded in death by two sons, David; Tom and his wife, Katie; two brothers, Judson and Lester Prevost.

She is survived by her daughter, Marjorie Galloway, and her husband, Dale, of Tunkhannock. She has three granddaughters of whom she has always been very proud, Faith Wellings of Tunkhannock; Kelsey Sands, a college student in Philadelphia, and Sierra Galloway, a college student in State College. Pauline has four sisters, Angelique Harding, Cecelia Taylor and Barbara Jaquish, all of Tunkhannock, and Carol Streater, of Harveys Lake.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Harding-Litwin Funeral Home, 123 W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock. Interment will be in Sunnyside Cemetery, Tunkhannock. Friends may call on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m.
