Bruce H. Macaulay
67, of Dover died Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at Aultman Hospital in Canton following a brief illness. Bruce was an electrician with Fenton Bros. Electric for over 20 years. Born Oct. 8, 1946 in Springfield, Mass., Bruce was a son of the late William G. and Rhea (Martens) Macaulay. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William G. Macaulay III. Bruce attended Newpointe Community Church in Dover. He was a 1965 graduate of Miami Norland High School in Florida where he excelled in football and wore #19. He led the Vikings as quarterback to four undefeated seasons. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He was active in the Boy Scouts of America where he was a leader of Troop 94. He was also active in Seven Ranges Scout Reservation in Kensington, Ohio. His idea of relaxing was his enjoyment of fishing on many area lakes. Bruce was also a huge Dover Football fan and an avid card player having mastered the game of pinochle.
Bruce will be sadly missed by his children Kristin Macaulay and Michael "Kipp" Macaulay both of Dover and his canine companion, Lexi B. In addition, he is survived by his former wife, Janet Shanklin and special friends, Annette Graef, Ron Greenland, Cary Baird and Jack and Linda Hayman.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 15, 2014 beginning at noon in the First Moravian Church at Dover with pastor and friend, Joe Schulz officiating. The Dover VFW will conduct military honors following the service. A reception will be held in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. Cremation has taken place and a visitation was held Friday, March 7 in the Toland- Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover.
