Calvin Robert (Bob) Gintz
89, passed away Dec. 27, 2013 at 8:45 a.m. at his home in San Jose, Calif. He was born at Union Hospital in Dover on Oct. 18, 1924. Bob was the son of Henry and Mary Teresa (Lab) Gintz of Dover. Bob was a 1942 graduate of Dover High School, attended Bowling Green State University and graduated from San Jose State with a Degree in Psychology. He was a Captain in the United States Air Corps serving as a pilot during World War II. After returning from service, he married the love of his life, Mary Helen Maughan on Nov. 24, 1945. Bob was a 30 year employee of Lockheed at Sunnyvale, Calif. where he was in the Space Shuttle Program. He was presented a Commendation from Washington D.C. in recognition of his significant contribution in the development of the first space shuttle-Columbia.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mary Helen and their three children, Linda (Alan) DeSalvo of Los Gatos, Calif., Gigi (Brooks) Townsend of York, Pa., and John (Vickie) Gintz of San Jose, Calif.; along with seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a sister, Joan (Francis) Robis of New Philadelphia, Ohio; a niece; and many cousins in Ohio.
Honoring Bob's wishes, there are no services and cremation has taken place.
