Carol Anson Healea
Carol Healea, 65 of Decatur, Ga. passed away on Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013 after a brief illness. She had worked for many years for the Center for Disease Control (CDC) in Atlanta, retiring in January 2012. Carol was born in Miami, Fla. on Jan. 15, 1948 to Gertrude and John de Mello and shortly thereafter moved to Uhrichsville, Ohio. As a young child and through high school, she was raised by Pete and Margaret Anson. Carol graduated from Claymont High School in the first graduating class of 1966. She was a cheerleader and active in many school clubs and groups. Carol attended the Ohio State University and taught school briefly in New York City before moving to Atlanta. She received her doctorate degree from Georgia State University, majoring in Educational Psychology.
Carol is survived by her husband, Robert S. Healea; son, Chad Polazzo-Atlanta; grandchildren, Grant, Henry, and James Polazzo-Atlanta; step-grandchildren, Lucas and Jacob Unger-Colorado.; stepchildren, Matt Healea and Lindsay Kocan-Pittsburgh, Pa.; sisters, Roberta Hall-Ontario, CA, Sally Berg-LaBelle, Fla., Tracy Underhill-Durham, N.C.; Betty Anson- Uhrichsville, Ohio; and brothers, David de Mello-West Palm Beach, Fla. and Jim (Marilyn) Anson of Auburn, Ill. In addition she leaves many beloved nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of many years, Doug Stanwyck and son, Justin Polazzo.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, March 16, at her residence in Decatur, Ga.
