Pleshinger
79, of Bolivar and formerly of Chesterland and Powell, died Friday Dec. 6, 2013 at 2:36 a.m. in Union Hospital at Dover following a period of declining health. Born Feb. 17, 1934 in Cleveland he was a son of the late John M. and Ann (Holzheimer) Pleshinger. He was retired as the Executive Captain/Fire Marshall from the City of Mayfield Heights following 33 years of service. Following retirement, he worked at the Safari Golf Course at Columbus. He was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church at Powell, Ohio and also the Church of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church at Zoar and was an Army Veteran having served in Korea. Donald enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife the former Jeanne Joyce whom he married July 19, 1958. Also surviving are his children, Dr. John (Christine) Pleshinger of Bolivar, Cathy (Dr. John) Blackman of Columbus and James (Elissa) Pleshinger of Cincinnati; and eight grandchildren, Emily (Matthew) Cox, Donald J. Pleshinger, Matthew J. Pleshinger, Kellie E. Pleshinger, Christopher J. Blackman, Ann D. Blackman, Daniel Pleshinger and David Pleshinger. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Connie Bleisath.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, Dec. 9, 2013 at 10 a.m. in the Church of the Holy Trinity at 1835 Dover-Zoar Rd. N.E. Bolivar (Zoar) with Fr. Jeff Coning officiating. Friends may call Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Lebold-Smith Funeral Home at 248 Park Ave. Bolivar, Ohio where a Vigil Prayer Service will be held at 8 p.m. For those unable to attend please visit the funeral home's web site to share a memory and sign the guest register.
