Edward J. "DeDe" Dotto

88, of Tuscarawas, passed away on Monday, April 28, 2014 in Seminole, Fla. after a short illness. Born July 24, 1925 in Dennison, he was a son of the late John Edward and Mary Frances (Angelo) Dotto.
After his graduation from Dennison High School in 1943, Ed proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy for 3 years in the South Pacific during World War II. He maintained his connection with fellow veterans as a longtime member of the Tuscarawas V.F.W. post. Ed was employed for 35 years by the former Warner-Swasey (currently Gradall) as an assembler until his retirement in 1986. He was a lifelong member of Immaculate Conception Church in Dennison. Ed was an avid golfer who was also looking forward to playing bocce at Tuscora Park with his many friends this summer. He loved to garden and was known by many as "The Garlic Man" for sharing his abundant harvest with his family, friends and neighbors.
On Oct. 18, 1949, Ed married the former Esther L. Cargnel at Immaculate Conception Church. They enjoyed nearly 64 years of marriage until her passing on July 21, 2013.
Ed is also preceded in death by a son, Mark A. Dotto who died in 2006, and a sister, Mary Ann Ghezzi. He will be deeply missed by his surviving family, whom he loved dearly, which includes a son, John E. (Darlene) Dotto of New Philadelphia; a daughter, Nancy (Jan) Natoli of Seminole, Fla; grandchildren, Michelle (Tim) Fritz, Lisa (Aaron) Burkart, Bo Natoli, Heaven Peet, Demi Dotto, Gaberielle Dotto and Bella Dotto; great-grandchildren, Rylan Williams and Addison Fritz; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Jim and Patricia Cargnel of New Philadelphia and Larry and Kaye Harmon of Pittsburgh; and many nieces and nephews.
Services for Ed, officiated by Father Anthony Lonzo, will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 9, in Immaculate Conception Church in Dennison. Interment will follow beside his beloved wife and son in St. Mary's Cemetery near Dennison with a military committal service by the Tuscarawas V.F.W. Post #7943. Family and friends are invited to call at the R.K. Lindsey Funeral Home in Dennison from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday. Those wishing to honor Ed's memory by a charitable contribution are encouraged to do so to Immaculate Conception Church.
