Harvey Ray
66, of Bolivar and formerly of Massillon, died Monday, July 15, 2013 in Mercy Medical Center at Canton after an extended illness. Born Nov. 1, 1946 in Martin's Ferry, Ohio he was a son of the late Donald Ray and Elsie Elizabeth (Bender) Goldsmith. He was a retired independent truck driver. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church at Massillon and a U.S. Navy veteran (1963-1969) having served in VietNam. He was a scholar of the Bible and enjoyed researching religious history.
He is survived by his brother, Martin (Erna) Goldsmith of Bolivar; his former wife, Cindy Goldsmith of Massillon; two nieces, Jennifer Goldsmith of Strasburg and Natalie Phillips of Kent; a step-niece, Rachel Harmon of Bolivar; a step-nephew, David (Allyson) Harmon of Delaware, Ohio; and 10 great-nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 19, 2013 at 11 a.m. in the Lebold-Smith Funeral Home at 248 Park Ave., Bolivar. Rev. Ken Hutchinson will officiate and burial will follow in Fort Laurens Cemetery at Bolivar where the Bolivar American Legion will conduct military honors. Friends may call Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. For those unable to attend please visit the funeral home's web site to share a memory and sign the guest register.
