James H. Gray
87, of Kent, died Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at Altercare of Brimfield. He was born June 11, 1926 in New Philadelphia, to Donald S. and Dorothy M. (Cramblet) Gray. James was a 1944 graduate of Midvale High School there he received a Bachelors' degree from Kent State University. James served in the Navy during Word War II, Korea, Vietnam war as a pilot and flight instructor. He retired after 18 years in the US Navy as a Lieutenant Commander. James then retired from Land O'Lakes in Kent in 1991. He was a two time Past Commander of the Kent American Legion Post 496. James was a proud member of AA for many years.
He will be sadly missed by friends, Margaret Painter of Cuyahoga Falls and friend, Nancy Anderson of Cuyahoga Falls. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Donald C. and Joseph T. Gray; sisters, Dolly, Dorothy J. and Ann E. Gray.
Calling hours will be held 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 22 at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home in Kent, where funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 23 with Rev. Kristin Secaur officiating. Veterans honors will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 23 at Evergreen Cemetery, 150 E. High Ave., New Philadelphia. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Pawsibilities Humane Society of Greater Akron, 7996 Darrow Road, Twinsburg, OH 44087.
