"Jim" Latimer
age 65, of 4086 State Route #212 N.E., Mineral City, (New Cumberland), Ohio, died Saturday afternoon, June 14, 2014 in the Hennis Care Center at Bolivar following a one-year illness. He retired in 2000 as a laborer for the former U.S. Ceramic Tile Co. at East Sparta after 32 years service, and was a former employee of Warren Township, Tuscarawas County. He was born May 26, 1949 in Canton, Ohio and was the son of the late Paul James and Betty Lou Grogg Latimer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Thomas James Latimer. He received an honorable discharge from the U.S. Navy, and attended the New Cumberland United Methodist Church. Jim enjoyed socializing and talking with his many friends, looked forward to attending the Monday Luncheon at the Warren Township Community Center, and enjoyed eating and visiting at Dave's Diner in Sherrodsville. He was an animal lover who found joy out of caring for and feeding the deer, raccoons, birds and other wild animals around his home, and pampering his household pets. He was a loving and caring husband, father, brother and friend who will be missed by his family and his community.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Ann Windsor Latimer, whom he married Jan. 4, 1969; his son, Kenny (Johna) Latimer of Cleveland, Ohio; daughter, Mrs. Geoff (Tiffany) Finley of Mineral City; his five grandchildren, Jasmine, Maiya, and Isaiah Latimer of Cleveland, and Shelby and Justin Finley of Mineral City; two sisters, Joy L. Healey of Boynton Beach, Fla., and Janet Corpman of New Philadelphia, Ohio, and a brother, Jeffrey (Crystal) Latimer of New Cumberland, and a number of nieces and nephews, and many friends.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 18, 2014 in the Baxter- Gardner Funeral Home at Sherrodsville with Pastor Larry Stitt officiating. Interment will follow in the New Cumberland Cemetery. Following the committal service, a luncheon will be served at the Lake Drive Fellowship Social Hall in New Cumberland. Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 5 until 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
