Nov. 9, 1941-Nov. 16, 2013 Leland (Lee) Robert Kneppelt died peacefully on Saturday, Nov. 16, with his loving family by his side. Mr. Kneppelt attended Ohio State University where he played ice hockey in 1959-60. He began his career in computer technology in 1964, well before the existence of computer science as an academic discipline. He retired in 2001 as a systems analyst and executive consultant. In 1984 he received the Romy Everdell Award for outstanding journalism for his paper "Product Structuring Considerations for Master Production Scheduling." Lee was known by his friends and family for his hearty laugh, his wonderful sense of humor and his love for storytelling. An excellent cook, he enjoyed preparing special meals for his family, especially during the holidays, and hosting dinner parties for friends. He was born in Dover, Ohio, to the late Paul L. Kneppelt and Wilma (Billie) Parson Kneppelt Slaton. He was also preceded in death by his stepfather, Harold A. (Sarge) Slaton.
Mr. Kneppelt leaves to cherish his memory his high school sweetheart and wife of 53 years, Sue Mast Kneppelt. He is also survived by his daughters, Christine Duffer (Mike) and Lisa Kneppelt; and grandsons, Jacob Smith, Drake Duffer and Luke Duffer; one sister, Paula Kneppelt Callentine (Ron), of Columbus, Ohio; and numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews in Ohio and Arizona.
