Leroy J. Lorenz
89, of Baltic, died Saturday Nov. 16, 2013 in Aultman Hospital at Canton after a brief illness. Born Sept. 12, 1924 in Coshocton County he was a son of the late John N. and Emma (Swigart) Lorenz. He retired in 1991 from the Belden Brick Company at Sugarcreek after 45 years. He was a member of the Baltic Church of the Brethren, The Baltic Conservation Club and was a Veteran of the U.S. Army. His wife the former Mary Ellen Knerr, whom he married October 15, 1945, preceded him in death on Oct. 24, 2006.
He is survived by a daughter Darlene (Ben) Banks of Grand Ledge, Michigan, two sons, Donald (Mary Lou) Lorenz of Sugarcreek and Gary Lorenz of Akron; four grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren, two sisters Lucille Jacobs of Coshocton, Clara Turner of Canton and 4 brothers, Paul (Sandy) Lorenz of Baltic, Jay (Arlene) Lorenz of Coshocton, Glenn (Erma) Lorenz of Coshocton and Charles (Shirley) Lorenz of Massillon.
In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by a son, Glen Lorenz, two brothers Edward and Arthur and two infant sisters.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday November 19, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the Smith-Varns Funeral Home at 1018 W. Main St. Sugarcreek. Rev. Carl Kandel will officiate and burial will follow in the Brethren Church Cemetery at Baltic. Friends may call Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
