Myrtle Louise Johnson Davis
age 75, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., (formerly of Deersville, Ohio), peacefully passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 with a smile on her face. A very strong-willed woman, she courageously fought a battle with cancer as well as Crohn's disease, a lifelong illness. Myrtle loved her family beyond measure and enjoyed living twenty-some years with her son, Joey (and Bruno). Myrtle loved maintaining her independence while living in Florida as she enjoyed traveling, dining out, shopping, gambling, bingo, and watching her great-granddaughter, Gianna. Born Sept. 17, 1937, in Wellsville, Columbiana County, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Willard Glenn Johnson and Violet Mae Ammon Johnson of East Liverpool, Ohio. Myrtle attended Wellsville High School. She worked as an administrative assistant for B&L Service in Fort Lauderdale. She formerly worked at Coultraps near Cadiz, Ohio, where she loved to socialize with all. She was also a volunteer firefighter for Deersville Volunteer Fire Department in Ohio.
Her husband, Clark Joseph Davis, Sr., passed away on June 3, 1981. They were married Sept. 29, 1956. She was also preceded in death by her grandson, Chad Lee Dixon, who died Feb. 9, 2012, in a motorcycle accident in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Surviving are a son, Clark Joseph (Bruno Casale) Davis, Jr. of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; three daughters, Lynn Louise (Doc) Dixon of Dover, Ohio, Tamala Sue (Rod) Howard of Ormond Beach, Fla., and Elizabeth Tina Davis (Bobbie Ward) of Dover, Ohio; four grandchildren, Jamie (Angela) Dixon, Charity Francis, Chad Dixon (deceased) and Kenny Howard; grandson-in-law, Jason Francis; three great-grandchildren, Ethan Francis, Rylee Francis and Gianna Dixon; siblings, Laren (Pat) Johnson of Mechanicsburg, Pa., and Gene (Willa) Johnson of Burgettstown, Pa., Charles (Helen) Johnson (deceased), John Keith Gilliland (deceased), and Sue (Harold) Swiger (deceased). Special friends including a very special sister-in-law, Ann Davis of Amsterdam, Ohio, a lifelong friend, Phyllis Hanlon of Deersville, Ohio, and the J.C. Villaruz family of Wauseon, Ohio.
Friends and family will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 4, at Koch Funeral Home, 216 S. High Street, Freeport, Ohio. Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 4, at Deersville United Methodist Church, 226 West Main Street, Deersville, Ohio, with Pastor Dave Koch officiating. Burial will follow in Patterson Union Cemetery, Deersville, Ohio.
