Kelly, Albert J. ALBANY Albert J. Kelly, 92, died on Sunday, July 13, 2014 at Schuyler Ridge Nursing Home. Born in Albany, he was the son of the late John and Frances Kelly. He was a World War II Marine Corps veteran. His battles and engagements included Roi-Namur, Saipan and Tinian. After the war he married his wife Rose Marie in 1946. He worked for the IRS, U.S. Post Office and City of Albany. His life of service included his devotion to Blessed Sacrament Church, where he was a member of the Holy Names Society and often volunteered his time in the food pantry program. He will always be remembered as a kind, generous and loving man who always extended himself to others. He loved his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He had a great sense of humor, and until the end he would bring a smile to the staff at Schulyer Ridge Nursing Home when he touched your life you never forgot him. The family would like to thank the staff at the nursing home and to all for their support and love during the past several months. He was the father of Michael John Kelly (Barbara), Patricia Cenci, Mary Beth Edmond (James) and Kevin Kelly; grandfather of Kimberly Carioto (Anthony), Tricia Reuss (Patrick), Colleen Murtagh (Sean), Christopher Kelly and Maribeth Resnick (Michael); brother of Frances Mahar and the late Corneilus Murdick and Ruth Miakels; several nieces and nephews survive. Funeral services on Friday, July 18, 2014, at 8:15 a.m., from McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 N. Allen St., Albany thence to Blessed Sacrament Church, Albany, at 9 a.m., where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Thursday, July 17, 2014, from 4 to 7 p.m., in the funeral home. Interment, Our Lady of Angels Cemetery. Those wishing to remember Mr. Kelly in a special way may send a contribution to the Food Pantry at Blessed Sacrament Church, 607 Central Ave., Albany, NY 12206.
