Davis, Albert T. Jr. SLINGERLANDS Albert T. Davis Jr., 90, of Slingerlands passed away on Friday, March 28, 2014 at St. Peter's Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Albany, he was the son of the late Albert T. and Martha (Tew) Davis Sr. An U.S. Navy veteran, he honorably served his country during World War II aboard PT 340 in New Guinea and the Philippines and during the Korean War aboard the USS William R. Rush. Mr. Davis was retired from the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets. He had been a member of American Legion Blanchard Post 1040, the Bethlehem Masonic Lodge and the Second Milers. In his more active years, he was an avid golfer, played in the Voorheesville Golf League, managed Little League baseball teams and enjoyed traveling to visit his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and a friend to many. Survivors include his wife, Marian (Smith) Davis; sons, Albert T. Davis III of Freehold, Stephen W. Davis (Marilyn) of Slingerlands and Brian P. Davis (Cecilia Marquis) of Scottsdale, Ariz.; granddaughters, Miranda L. and Mary A. Davis; brothers, Gordon D. Davis (Christine) of Glenmont, Donald T. Davis (Margot) of Westfield, Mass., and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother David H. Davis. Albert's family would like to thank the staff of St. Peter's Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. We are grateful for the loving care and friendship extended to Albert and his family throughout his stay at the nursing home. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Monday, March 31, 2014 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave., Delmar. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 1, at the funeral home. Burial will be Tuesday, at 12:30 p.m. in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Resident Activity Department, St. Peter's Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 300 Hackett Blvd., Albany, NY 12208, or to the Slingerlands Fire Dept., P.O. Box 99, Slingerlands, NY 12159.
