Byng, Brian A. BALLSTON SPA Brian A. Byng, 67, entered into God's arms on Sunday, April 27, 2014 following a brief stay at Saratoga Hospital in Saratoga Springs. Born in Niskayuna, Brian was the son of the late Harlan and Helen (Ruth) Byng Springer. He was raised in Johnsonville and was a graduate of Hoosick Valley High School. Brian enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1966 and served his country honorably. While in the military he achieved marksman status with both pistol and rifle and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. Brian was employed by the Watervliet Arsenal as a machine operator and later as a welder for Zwack, Inc. in Stephentown, Zak, Inc. in Green Island, Tarrant Manufacturing Co., Inc. and Loughberry Manufacturing Corp., both in Saratoga Springs. He received enjoyment from fishing, reading, taking vacations, his pets and all animals. He is survived by his wife, Debra A. Veronese Byng; his sister, Harlene "Bunny" O'Hara of Wynantskill and several nieces and nephews. Brian was preceded in death by his brother, Edward Byng, who died one day before him. Friends are invited to visit with Brian's family on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 from 2 until 6 p.m., at the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway in Watervliet. The funeral will be held on Thursday at 8:45 a.m. from the funeral home and at 9:30 a.m. in St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Waterford where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow in the Gerald B.H. Solomon-Saratoga National Cemetery.
