Faircloth, Chess B. BELLINGHAM, Pa. Chess Brannen, of Bellingham in West Chester, formerly of Flourtown, dies on February 11, 2013 at age 92. Pre-deceased by his beloved wife of 55 years, Barbara C. Staehling Faircloth. Devoted father of Sherilyn C. Faircloth Van Orden of Amelia Island, Fla. (formerly of Albany, N.Y.) and Gary Staehling Faircloth of Sanatoga, Pa.; two grandchildren, Brandon L. Van Orden (Scarlett) of Acworth, Ga. and Grant A. Van Orden (Krista) of Schenectady, N.Y., and four great- grandchildren; son of the late Lovett Shelton and Rena Brannen Faircloth and brother of the late Robert S. Faircloth of Georgia. He was a graduate of Georgia Southern Univ., decorated World War II pilot Army Air Corp (US Air Force) 2200 flight hours, Lt. Col. Faircloth served 20 years as flight instructor in Bainbridge, Ga., in Manilla in the Pacific, and the Reserves. He retired from Container Corp. of America in 1984 after 31 years as distinguished manager of special accounts/east coast but continued as an active volunteer life for CCA, the US Air Force, and the USO. He was the recipient of the LuLu Temple Shriners Citizenship Recognition Award and second recipient of the Sons of American Revolution Bronze Citizenship Medal for 12 years and 1300 hours of volunteer service to open and operate the USO Lounge at the Philadelphia Airport. He especially enjoyed wonderful times with his family; travel here and abroad with his wife, Barbara; and for many years worked extensively in his workshop. Relatives and friends are invited to Chess' Funeral Service, Friday February 15, 11a.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church, 654 Bethlehem Pike, Flourtown, PA, 19031, where friends may call 10 at a.m. and Thursday, February 14, 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Craft Funeral Home of Erdenheim, 814 Bethlehem Pike. Int., George Washington Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Chess' Name may be made to Liberty USO PHL Terminal A, East 8500 Essington Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19153.
