Acker, Dennis M. WEST SAND LAKE Dennis M. Acker, 64, of West Sand Lake died on | Friday, June 13, 2014 at the Stratton V.A. Medical Center in Albany. Dennis was born in Cobleskill, the son of Leon and Beatrice (Pitt) Acker. He was an electrician for various contractors including Cargil in the port of Albany. Denny was a proud Army veteran of the Vietnam War and was a member of the Veterans Association and disabled vets. Predeceased by his siblings, Frances M. Coons, Priscilla D. Sill, Leon E. Acker, and Thomas J. Acker. Dennis is survived by his five sisters, Arlene S. Sill, Nichole H. Fyan, Brenda K. Martin, Linda P. Tuck, Lori L. Slingerland, and three brothers, Howard P. Acker, Joseph Martin Sr., and Raymond Acker. He is also survived by his loving companion, Kelly Anderson, as well as many nieces and nephews, close friends, and his biker buddies. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, June 18, 2014, from the Wm. J. Rockefeller Funeral Home, Inc., 165 Columbia Tpke., Rensselaer. Friends may call in the funeral home on Monday evening from 4 to 7 p.m. Entombment will be in New Rural Cemetery, Rensselaer. The family has requested that donations be made in Denny's name to the Wounded Warriors Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.
