Agostine, Francis J. TROY Francis J. Agostine, 75, died in the comfort of his home on Friday, January 31, 2014. Born in Troy on June 1, 1938, he was the son of the late Frank Agostine and Kathleen Singleton Rocque and loving husband of Elaine Bagarose Agostine. Fran grew up in Troy and attended St. Mary's School, graduated from LaSalle Institute and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He worked for Clemente Latham Concrete for many years until his retirement in 1997. He was a longtime member and past commander of the C.R.A.B. Veterans Post in Troy and a member of the Emerald Club. Fran enjoyed spending time with his family and his cousin Sam Agostine, having a few laughs, betting on the horses, and vacationing in winter at St. Pete's Beach, Fla. His recipe for barbecue ribs was legendary, and they were always a big hit at family picnics. One of his greatest joys was large family gatherings at the holidays and he was always the perfect host. Fran was genuine and easy to talk to, even if you just met him. He liked everyone he met and never had an unkind word to say about anyone. He especially enjoyed spending time at the Red Front restaurant in Troy and made many good friends during the time he spent there. He especially enjoyed his visits with friends Charlie, Butchie, Billy and Pat. In addition to his wife, Fran is survived by his children and grandchildren, Elaine and Norman LaBounty and their children, Tessa, Matthew and Paine; Mark and Jane Piche and their daughter Lena; and Frannie Agostine and her husband Matthew Cowan. He was predeceased by his son Francis Marc Agostine. Survivors also include his three sisters and their families, Mary and John Finelli, Jean and David Holmes and Kathleen DeBonis. Fran was the brother-in-law of Joan and Luigi Centanni, Joyce Vertone, Joseph Bagarose and Janice Bagarose. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. The funeral service for Fran will be held on Monday, February 3, 2014 at 1 p.m. from the Bocketti Funeral Home, 336 Third St., Troy with Father James Sidoti, administrator of St. Joseph's Church in Troy, officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to attend and may call at the funeral home on Monday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Interment, St. Mary's Cemetery, Troy. A very special thank you goes to Janice Bagarose for her constant support and assistance during Fran's illness and to Father Anthony Ligato of St. Jude the Apostle Church, Wynantskill. Fran was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will be truly missed by all who knew him. Contributions in Fran's memory may be made to the food pantry at Hope 7, 596 Pawling Ave., Troy, NY 12180.
