Stagliano, Frank MECHANICVILLE Frank Stagliano, 79, of Waverly St., died Monday evening, April 21, 2014 at home, surrounded by his loving family. A native and lifelong resident of Mechanicville, born August 13, 1934, son of the late Rufus and Edith Smith Stagliano, he attended Mechanicville Public Schools. A brakeman for the former Boston and Maine Railroad in Mechanicville he retired in 1990 after 40 years of service. A respected carpenter and handyman, Frank had a stellar reputation for his workmanship, honesty, skill and attention to detail, when building, rehabbing and repairing many homes in the area. Frank was a 43 year honorary life member of the Mechanicville-Stillwater Elks Lodge. Frank's unofficial "office" was his favorite counter stool at "Bubbles" Restaurant, where he met daily with his buddies, guys and gals alike. An active member of All Saints on the Hudson Catholic Church in Mechanicville, Frank was responsible for many remodeling projects, including the thrift shop and relic room. In truth, Frank's reputation will always be that of a man who was willing to help others. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Louise Fusco Stagliano; son, David A. Stagliano; daughter, Mary Beth and Paul Vannucci all of Mechanicville; sisters, Ruth DiDomenico and Jeannette Marinello both of Mechanicville and Helen Street of Texas; along with many nieces, nephews and good friends, including his handyman buddy, Nick Izzo. Frank was predeceased by sisters, Marie Carpenter, Emily D'Alberto, Theresa Peluso and Betty Jane Buhl. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at 10 a.m. at All Saints of the Hudson South Church, 121 No. Main St., with entombment in St. Paul's Mausoleum. Calling hours at the No. Main St. Church on Friday from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to All Saints on the Hudson Church Endowment Fund, 52 William St., Mechanicville, 12118.
