Colbert, James J. CLIFTON PARK James J. Colbert of Clifton Park died on Thursday, October 17, 2013 at his residence. He was born in Troy on January 17, 1933 and was the son of the late James and Anne Colbert of Watervliet. He attended Troy schools and graduated with a BBA degree from Miami University. Mr. Colbert lived and worked most of his life in Connecticut. He was employed by the GE Capital Corporation for omore than 20 years and managed the industrial financing business. He was a vice president of field operation at Deutsche Credit in Chicago, vice president and director of Ingersol Rand Financial Corp. in Woodcliff Lake, N.J., and senior vice president and director of Chrysler Capital Corp. in Connecticut. Mr. Colbert served four years in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Germany. Upon retiring, he and his family moved to Charleston, S.C. He was a founding father of the chapter of Ancient Order of Hibernians in Charleston and their historian for more than six years. He established the First Financial Capital Corporation, the Reliable Currier Service and the TREBLOC Corporation in Charleston. While a communicant of Stella Maris Church on Sullivan's Island, S.C., he was an usher for more than 10 years, a member of the Men's Club and a eucharistic minister at St. Mary's Church in Crescent during later years of his life. He was a member of the American Legion Mohawk Post 1450 in Halfmoon. He is survived by his wife, Pauline; daughters, Kelly Colbert Nibley of New York City, Nicole Colbert Pettinelli of Charleston; sisters, Sally, Patricia and Sheila Colbert of Watervliet; brother of Kerin Colbert of Saratoga Springs; grandson, Brennan Fitzgerald Pettinell and granddaughter, Londen Elizabeth Pettinelli, both of Charleston; and sisters and brothers-in-law in England and Ireland. Jim was predeceased by his brother, Daniel F. Colbert, in 1990. Funeral will be held Friday, October 25, 2013 at 10:15 a.m. from the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 Route 9 in Clifton Park, thence to St. Mary's Church in Crescent where at 11 a.m. a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Interment with full military honors will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Watervliet. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Mr. Colbert to the Attn: Memorial/Honor Program-F, 501 St. Jude Place, PO Box 1000, Dept. 142 Memphis, TN 38101-9908. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Robert Benton of Capital Cardiology; Dr. James Walders of Capital Health Care Associates; Dr. Joseph Farooq, his pulmonary doctor; and his Hospice nurses/ Angels, Nicole and Carol, for all of the great care they gave to Jim. Arrangements have been entrusted by the family to the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, Clifton Park.
