Garrett, James S. Jr. CLIFTON PARK James S. Garrett Jr., 83, formerly of Clifton Park died on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at Maplewood Manor. Born in Albany, he was the son of the late James S. Garrett Sr. and Mary Hickey Garrett. He was a graduate of the former Vincentian Institute in Albany. Jim was a career sales representative in the area and earlier in his life worked as a graphic artist. In his later years, he served as sexton at St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Waterford and retired in 2000. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served during the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion Mohawk Post 1450 in Halfmoon. Jim was very civic minded and was a past captain of the West Albany Rescue Squad, a member of the Colonie Lodge of Elks, the Latham Council of the Knights of Columbus, as well as the Albany Lions Club. A devoted Christian, he was a member of the Legion of Mary and was a daily communicant. He enjoyed drawing, doing pencil sketches, painting, and in his earlier years, playing golf. However, his greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family. Jim was husband of the late Jane McAllister Garrett who died in 2008. He is the father of Susan Manning (Joseph) of Clifton Park, David P. Garrett (Donna) of Malta, James F. Garrett (Robin) and Mary Jane Garrett of Clifton Park, John E.
