Hansen, John F. BRUNSWICK John F. Hansen, 81, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 1, 2014. John was born in Troy and was the son of the late John C. and Josephine M. Conroy Hansen. He was raised and educated in Troy where he graduated from LaSalle Institute in 1952. John furthered his education at Hudson Valley Community College where, in 1957, he achieved an associate's degree in electronics. John served in the U.S. Army as a medic during the Korean War. He was a civilian employee of the United States Naval Ordinance, having worked in Washington D.C., and later in Pittsfield, Mass., from where he retired in 1988. John was a communicant of Our Lady of Victory Church in Troy. His hobbies after retirement included an appreciation for movies, music and assembling puzzles. John's family would like to thank the staff and residents of the Eddy Village Green, House 1 in Cohoes for the wonderful care given to John and for the friendship shared with him. John is survived by his dear brother, Harold D. (Karen) Hansen of Center Brunswick; his loving niece and nephew, Ann T. Hansen (Richard Catroppa) of Brunswick and David S. Hansen (Theresa) of Clifton Park; his cherished grandniece and grandnephew, Nicole M. and Timothy D. Hansen, both of Clifton Park. John's funeral will be held on Monday, May 5, 2014 at 10:15 a.m. from the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet, and at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Victory Church, Troy, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Randall P. Patterson, pastor. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Troy. Relatives and friends are invited to attend and may also visit with John's family on Sunday from 4 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
