Mossey, John G. WATERFORD John G. Mossey, 94, formerly of Belanger Avenue, died Thursday, January 17, 2013 at St. Peter's Hospital. Born in Waterford he was the son of the late John and Lillian Rivet Mossey. He was a 1937 graduate of Waterford High School. He received his college education at Albany Business College and RPI. John was employed for 38 years as an engineer at the General Electric in Schenectady and retired in 1984. He was awarded numerous patents while at GE and was a member of the GE Management Association. Prior to World War II, he was employed at the U.S. Arsenal in Watervliet. John was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, 8th Air Force, 2003rd Ordinance Group and served during World War II in the European Theatre of Operations. During the war, he was involved in special projects including "Aphrodite Drone" under the auspices of the OSS, precursor to the CIA. He was awarded the Bronze Star for his participation in "Aphrodite Drone." John was the chairman of the 2003rd Veterans Association. A communicant of the former St. Anne's Church in Waterford, he also had served as Town of Waterford assessor. John was the husband of the late Mary B. Amyot Mossey, who died in 1984. He is the father of James J. Mossey (Carol) of The Villages, Fla. and Christine M. Graham (Dr. Benjamin Graham) of Clifton Park. He is the proud grandfather of Michael L. Mossey (Melissa), John K. Mossey (Karen), Amy Carroll (Andrew), Carolyn Hughes (Peter) and Benjamin Graham (Jennifer) and great-grandfather of Maya, Katie, Olivia, Colin and Ryan. John is the brother of the late Frank Mossey, Margaret Bentley and Anita Ridgeway. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be Monday at 9:30 a.m. at Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St. (Route 32), Waterford. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Waterford.
