Lupo, Joseph R. GANSEVOORT - Joseph R. Lupo, 69, of Pettis Road, died Saturday, April 27, 2013 at Glens Falls Hospital, after being stricken at home. Born in Troy, April 3, 1944, son of the late Joseph and Mary Lupo McLaren, Joe grew up and was educated in Stillwater. A Veteran of the US Navy Seabees, serving with USN MCB-4, Joe saw duty at Guantanamo and was a part of the Cuban Missile Crisis blockade in the early 1960's. After military service, Joe was a truck driver for 33 years, for ABF Freight Systems and earlier for Friehoffer Baking Co. A former fire chief and member of the Halfmoon Vol. Fire Dept, Joe was a sportsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing, loved art and comedy, always ready with a joke or jest. He was a member of American Legion Post 1644, Riverside. Survivors include his wife, best friend and care giver, Cathy Sharpe, whom he married January 21, 1996. Also a son, Joseph R. Lupo III of Mechanicville; adored grandson, Daniel Joseph Lupo of Argyle; a brother, Hugh (Penny) Lupo of Conn.; several nieces and nephews including his special niece, Tammy Mueller of Malta. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 3 p.m. at the DeVito-Salvadore Funeral Home, 39 So. Main St., Mechanicville. Burial with military honors to follow at St. Paul's Cemetery.
